This quilt is a continuation of a series of abstract landscapes begun with Transcendence. Often I don’t have a clear idea of the theme or title of a piece until I begin the process of fabric selection. I will lay out fabrics that just seem to sing together in perfect harmony. And then the concept comes. Even in the darkness of night, we are alive, the woods and trees are alive, the cities never sleep. God never sleeps. In him there is no darkness, none. He watches over all things. Night is a time of rest, renewal, refreshment and restoration. It’s also the end of our life journey, or so it seems, unless and until we are translated into God’s eternal kingdom where there is no night. Night is part of the eternal rhythm of the universe. Dawn, day, dusk, night. And repeat.
