My work celebrates God and His created world in both abstract and representational form, specifically inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. My medium is the art quilt.
I came to quilting in my late 40s after exploring the use of color in other mediums – sumi-e, stained glass, soft pastels and basketry. The added dimension of pattern and texture in fabric piqued my interest and challenged me to push the color envelope with this medium.
I am inspired by the sunrise and sunset over the mountains, the shadows cast on the landscape by clouds, and the color of the trees in the changing seasons.
